Dangerous Jane
Jane Addams was born in Cedarville, Illinois in 1860. Her mother died when she was very little so Jane felt unwanted and hopeless. Jane went to college, and this is special because most women didn’t go to college. In London she saw people living in poverty aching for food and shelter, then she found out about Toynbee Hall. There she got an idea!!!! She went to Chicago and bought a house for immigrants. In 1889 the doors of Hull House opened. In 1914 World War 1 started. Jane believed there could be peace in the world. Jane joined the International Congress of Woman, and she was their leader. After the war, Jane still helped starving families, but some people called her a traitor and dangerous woman. She was the first woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
